Having been trained as a classical violinist from the age of four, there is no doubt Kytami has mastered her skills on the instrument. Known for creating a musical symbiosis between her performance and her audience, Kytami has dipped her violin's bow into numerous genres during her widespread musical career. She has appeared in festivals worldwide, was invited to speak and perform at TedX Victoria and received the Western Canadian Music Award for Electronic/Dance Album of the Year for her self-titled 2012 release "Kytami."
2017 has kicked off with a bang for this violin diva with the release of the long-anticipated "Renegade" album on East Van Digital (produced by Phonik Ops & Beatsmith). She also appeared on select dates with Datsik on the Ninja Nation tour as well as a WODNB performance in Victoria, BC with the Prototypes and DJ SS. Accompanying the gritty drum and bass/electronica backing provided by Phonik Ops, Kytami flawlessly delivers a no-nonsense, magnetic performance on the violin and throws in pieces of musical stylings from across the map, including elements of drum n bass, dubstep, hip hop, and punk rock, to create an unforgettable and mesmerizing experience.
Since 2011 Kytami has developed a steadily growing reputation for her dynamic performances with appearances at festivals and major events such as Vancouver Jazz Fest, Shambhala, Rifflandia, Centre of Gravity, Connect Festival, Tall Tree Music Festival, 403 DnB's Metropolis, CMW, Music Matters and Rock the Shores, as well as opening for acts like Dub FX and Dieselboy. Kytami brings her absolute all to every performance, orchestrating the crowds with her violin bow and commanding an urge, a compulsion, a need that drives into the audience to get up, dance, and go uncontrollably crazy.
This isn't Kytami's beginning. This girl has been here, there, and everywhere in between, and will continue to do so. Nor is this anywhere near the end. We are going to see Kytami both continually defying and creating musical revolutions for a long time to come
